Impact of the integration of Dolutegravir among people on antiretroviral treatment in the Gao health district

Abstract

Introduction:Therapeutic failures constitute a serious problem in the care of PLHIV. We conducted a study on the impact of dolutegravir in antiretroviral treatment. The objective was to evaluate the impact of the integration of dolutegravir in people on antiretroviral treatment in the Gao health district.

Methodology :We conducted a cross-sectional study which consisted of consulting patient files and administering questionnaires from January 1 to December 31, 2021 at the USAC in Gao.

Results:of the 50 patients who underwent a therapeutic change based on dolutegravir, the age group most affected is that of 26-45 years with 64% with a male predominance in 62% of cases. the TDF/3TC/EFV therapeutic combination was the most used old regimen with a rate of 50% of cases and 36% had a CD4 count>500 after switching to dolutegravir. The majority of patients have good compliance with taking ARV medications with a rate of 84% of cases.

Conclusion:The study showed a relationship between the use of dolutegravir and the increase in CD4 levels in first-line therapy.
