Abstract

This study aimed to determine the antimicrobial activity of garlic (Allium sativum L) in different presentations pure extract, alcoholic extract and tincture against Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pyogenes and Candida albicans in oropharyngeal infections. This experimental research TSA agar plates 20 and 10 sabourau agar was used for susceptibility testing was performed on plate method undercut strains of S. aureus, S. pyogenes and C. albicans, isolated buco pharyngeal secretion. The results were observed at 24 hours with S. aureus wherein the pure extract showed greater inhibition zone and the alcoholic extract the dye to the S. pyogenes 24 hours produced pure extract greater zone of inhibition than the extract alcoholic tincture produced no inhibition zone. C. albicans at 24 hours produced pure extract greater zone of inhibition than the alcoholic extract and the tincture. The results showed that the dye, alcoholic extract, pure extract having antimicrobial action at 24 hours. Using Garlic in different forms in alcoholic extract and pure extract and tincture have antimicrobial effect on bacteria and fungi fronts compared with erythromycin, penicillin and Nystatin
